Alpacas
produce one of the world's rarest and most luxurious natural fibres.
Alpaca fibre is warmer, softer, stronger and lighter than wool.
Noted
for its unique silky feel, it produces gorgeous garments ranging
from scarves and baby garments to the finest suits and most durable
coats.
Premier
Alpacas has produced a limited amounts of fine 3ply baby wool. To
enable machine spinning it is either an 80:20 or a 90:10 blend of
alpaca and 20 micron merino. This is available in either huacaya
or suri. Suri is available in white only. Huacaya is available in
a range of popular colours that are illustrated in the photos below
and on the second fibre page). They are supplied in 100 gram balls
priced at $20 plus postage except for the white huacaya at $18 plus
postage. The white suri is priced at $25 per 100 grams.
We
have also spun commercially a lace weight grey suri fibre in cones
of 500 grams - see the illustration on the second fibre page.
